AdjustRight® Football Goals Featured in USA Network's Royal Pains

Sportsfield Specialties’ AdjustRight® gp4380 Football Goal Posts recently received national television exposure during a recent episode of the popular USA Network medical drama Royal Pains. As part of the storyline for the episode titled “But There’s a Catch”, which aired on Wednesday July 6, 2011, a client holds a charity flag football game and invites main character Dr. Hank Lawson to participate. The fictional charity event featured a guest-starring role for Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings who played himself as the charity event's celebrity player. In national cable ratings, the episode ranked #1 in its time slot and #4 overall for the night with over 5 million viewers.

2011-2012 NFHS Soccer Rule 1-4-1

Recently, the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), the governing body for high school athletics, modified NFHS Soccer Rule 1, Section 4, Article 1 to clarify the anchoring position of a soccer goal as related to the base of a football goal post. The 2011-2012 NFHS Soccer Rules Book - NFHS Soccer Rule 1-4-1 now reads: “If portable goals are used, they shall be adequately anchored, secured or counterweighted to the ground. If used on a football field, the front of the portable goals should be at least two (2) yards in front of the base of the existing football goalposts.” This NFHS rule clarification confirms that both football and soccer can share the same common end line or utilize a four inch (4”) offset, staggered soccer end line as detailed in the Original GoalPak®, allowing a 360’ maximum length soccer field layout. Showing Off Our Strengths at Lowville Academy

Lowville Academy Central School District, located in Upstate NY, recently completed construction of a state of the art multi-use outdoor athletic complex. The project included a multi-purpose synthetic infill turf field to accommodate Football, Soccer, Lacrosse, Baseball and Softball, in addition to multiple outdoor courts for Tennis and Basketball. Due to the size, complexity, and diversity of the project, the client and project site designer were faced with an abnormally wide range of sports construction equipment needs to adequately outfit the site and to successfully complete the project. As such, the project site designer, Appel-Osborne Landscape Architecture located in Syracuse, NY, was able to utilize all facets of Sportsfield Specialties, Inc.’s design and manufacturing capabilities to help overcome the associated challenges and requirements of the project.

Yankee Stadium Set for Gridiron Prime Time Debut

When Notre Dame and Army square off on Saturday, Nov. 20 to mark the debut of college football at the new Yankee Stadium, the field, stretching from the home plate area to deep center field, will be equipped with an array of products from Sportsfield Specialties, a manufacturer of sports competition equipment based in this rural upstate community.

Citrus Bowl Provides a Unique Challenge

The Citrus Bowl, a central Florida landmark since 1936, has undergone a major transformation in preparation for the 2010 season. "We are known primarily as a football venue" says Greg Thompson, Stadium Superintendent.  "But what many people don't realize is the number and variety of other events we host.  These include concerts, soccer, both professional level and local school competition, Motocross, and our season ends in January with the monster trucks.  The venue also hosted the WWE in 2007 which drew a record 74,500 fans."

Recently our own Matt Moyse was contacted by a Fort Lauderdale, Florida newspaper the Sun Sentinel. Journalist Harvey Fialkov was researching the history of the modern football goal post, known at the time of its adoption by the NFL as the 'slingshot goal post.'
