As of January 1, 2019, Promats Athletics of Salisbury and Delhi, NY-based parent company, Sportsfield Specialties, Inc. (SSI) merged forces, consolidating divisions under the SSI entity.
According to Sean Clark, SSI President, Promats Athletics has been the leader in athletic wall pads for over 30 years and SSI has been the industry-leader in manufacturing steel and aluminum athletic field equipment since 1998. In 2007, SSI acquired Promats Athletics, expanding the NC division’s offerings to include protective netting systems, windscreen, and SSI’s full line of field equipment, ranging from field goals to dugouts. Alternately, SSI added Promats Athletics soft goods to their line.
“For several years, the companies have provided similar services to the sports market, so streamlining our efforts was a logical step,” Clark explained. He added that critical departments including finance, human resources, IT, and marketing already worked within both divisions. “Not a lot is going to change. The most significant difference is that our team at Promats Athletics will now be wearing the Sportsfield Specialties logo,” he said.
Don Sexton, Operations Manager at the Salisbury, NC facility sees this as forward-thinking move, “In the short-term, having a unified identity will strengthen our brand and buying power.” Sexton said. “I believe this synergy between divisions will improve internal communications and unify us as an organization. It’ll make us more efficient and, at the end of the day, that benefits our customers.”
